CT Education Association Endorses Frey
State Representative John Frey announced today that the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) has endorsed his candidacy for re-election.
“During the past two years, you have consistently proven yourself to be a supporter of public education, its students, and teachers,” said Phil Apruzzese, President of CEA. “The citizens of Connecticut are fortunate to have you representing them in the legislature and we are pleased to announce the endorsement of your candidacy for office in the 2008 General Assembly elections,” he added.
“I have been happy to work with the CEA on issues of importance to public education in Ridgefield and statewide, such as increasing public education funding, limiting unfunded mandates and ensuring that the teachers retirement fund – a potential huge liability to the taxpayers of our state – is funded properly, “ said Representative Frey.
“A primary concern is funding of public education. When I was first elected, Ridgefield received $229,000 a year from the state in ECS funding – we now receive $2,000,000 and the state covers the cost of special education at an earlier threshold,” said Representative Frey. “We have more work to do, and I look forward to working with CEA, our local school board and parents to make public education in Connecticut better for all our students,” he added.
