An Open Letter to our Town – James Carroll

An Open Letter to our Town
Hello, Ridgefield.
My name is James Carroll and last month I had the honor of being elected Chairman of the Republican Town Committee. My purpose in writing this letter is to share some thoughts on what I’d like to accomplish as chair of the RTC and to ask that you consider becoming involved with our town Republicans.
First off let me say that I’m a member of the GOP because I believe our nation is at its best when taxes and government regulation are kept low, our economy performs to its full potential and our elected leaders are committed to a strong national security. As a state, Connecticut once espoused many of these virtues. Not too long ago, we were a beacon for business and entrepreneurship – a haven sandwiched between an inhospitable business climate in New York and Massachusetts. Today, the radical majority in Hartford has done their best to reverse this and, by one account, Connecticut is ranked dead last among states friendly to business. Here in Ridgefield, I firmly believe we need a fiscal plan for the future that is honest with our residents and responsible as well. The overwhelming defeat of our first budget for next year should have served as a wake up call to our town leadership that the days of knee-jerk increases are over.
As I look to this Fall, I’m nothing but encouraged by our slate of candidates for national and state office. With people like John McCain and John Frey representing the Republican Party in Ridgefield, I know we will have great success. But that success depends upon the base of the GOP as well – our family, friends and neighbors. If I could achieve just one thing as your Republican Chairman it would be to motivate our citizens to get involved in the political process. I’d encourage all right- thinking voters (Republicans and Independents alike) not just to register with the GOP but to make a commitment to do something that benefits our Republican candidates this Fall. Maybe that something is putting up a lawn sign or distributing them about town, maybe it’s committing to get out the vote through the RTC’s phone bank initiative or even sending some financial support to our party. Whatever you can do, and everyone can do something, it will matter.
We are going to hear a lot about change over the next several months. And that’s good. It’s what elections are always about. The change that I’d like to propose is a plan to make the Republican Part a relevant force in the lives of Ridgefielders.
Please visit us at www.ridgefieldgop.org <http://www.ridgefieldgop.org/> or send an email to webmaster@ridgefieldgop.org and I’ll respond with a number of ways we can work together.
Happy Summer to All.
Sincerely,
James Carroll
